Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old healing tradition from India that views life as deeply interconnected. At its heart lies a simple truth: well-being comes from finding balance.
Each of us is wonderfully unique, shaped by the elements of ether, air, fire, water, and earth.
Some of us naturally run warmer, whilst others are cooler. Some are calm and steady, while others are more flowy and constantly moving (chala). Some are light and airy by nature, whilst others have a more grounded and substantial presence.
Your prakruti, or constitution, can be understood through these qualities and elements, along with your vikruti, the imbalances that may arise over time. The goal of Ayurveda is balance, achieved by bringing in the opposite qualities.
If you’ve been moving constantly, perhaps after a cross-country flight or a particularly busy season of life, we bring in grounding energy to help you settle back into yourself.
Ayurveda also turns its attention to the mind through the three gunas: Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas.
In our busy and distracted world, we strive towards a sattvic state, one of clarity, peace, and harmony. Yet many of us seek comfort through quick fixes and tamasic tendencies, turning to drugs, alcohol, endless scrolling, or constant distractions in hopes of calming the mind.
Whilst sleep and rest are essential, simply dulling the mind rarely creates lasting balance. True peace is found not by shutting ourselves down, but by learning how to return to ourselves with greater awareness and intention.
This is but a glimpse into the wisdom of Ayurveda.
